In 2020, DJ Lynnée Denise founded the International Locals in response to an urgent need to build a network of thinkers, artists, scholars, writers, filmmakers, and educators across borders and the African Diaspora to activate a localized global movement based on shared resources and interdependent talents. In addition to the consulting, artistic, and scholarly work provided by Lynnée Denise to Amsterdam and other European cities, this music-based pedagogical project and practice aims to draw on non-Western ideas to stimulate a public discourse that centers on social solutions and intellectual curiosity. Programming, consulting, lectures, performances, literary interventions, and cinematic offerings have happened in Rotterdam, Salzburg, Harare, London, Johannesburg, Metz, Los Angeles, New York, Malmö, and Cape Town.More cities to come.
